Cellulite is a problem that plagues most people, particularly women. Nearly 90% of women will experience problems with cellulite some time in their lives.
What causes cellulite?
Cellulite is caused by the deposit of fat tissue beneath the skin. The dimpling appearance associated with cellulite is caused by the presence of fibrous tissue underneath which leads to puckering of the skin.
How do we treat cellulite?
Treating cellulite is difficult because of the nature of the way it forms.
Some treatment methods available on the market include lymphatic massages, creams and lotions or body slimming devices which claim to reduce the appearance of cellulite.
Of course, weight loss and exercise also plays an important role in reducing cellulite by reducing the amount of fat stored.
One other treatment method for cellulite treatment also involves the use of shock wave therapy to break down and reduce the appearance of cellulite.
What is shock wave therapy?
Shock wave therapy for cellulite treatment is given via the Storz D-Actor machine. It involves the use of shock waves to break down cellulite over trouble areas.
How does Storz D-Actor work for cellulite?
This technology uses high energy acoustic waves which is introduced on the patient’s body via high-frequency oscillations.
This allows the body to stimulate fat breakdown, collagen synthesis and lymphatic drainage within the targeted treatment areas.
Which areas are suitable for treatment?
The machine is suitable to be used for cellulite around the thigh or buttock areas.
How many treatment sessions are needed?
10 treatments are usually recommended for optimal treatment of cellulite around the thighs or buttock areas. More sessions may be required if the affected area is larger or the severity of cellulite is more severe.
Is the treatment painful?
You will expect to feel mild discomfort during the treatment as the mechanism of the Storz D Actor machine requires the use of high-frequency oscillations to send a shock wave to break down fat and cellulite.
Not to worry as the intensity of the treatment will be tailored according to the individual patient’s pain threshold.
How do I prepare for this treatment?
Wear loose-fitting clothing on the day of treatment and avoid applying anything over the area of treatment.
Ultrasound gel will be applied to the area of treatment before the handpiece is applied.
